Abstract:Background: Cervical cancer is widely acknowledged as the main cause mortality a major obstacle to increasing life expectancy, after breast cancer, in women. Natural products have been proven be promising source for development potential anticancer drugs. Emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methyl-9,10-anthracenedione) shown exert wide range biological effects, including antibacterial, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory anticancer. Aim: The aim this study was evaluate efficacy emodin against progression human cervical cancer. Materials Methods: cytotoxic effect on HeLa cells assessed by cell viability assay phase contrast microscopy. Moreover, DAPI staining performed analyze nuclear condensation. H2DCFDA done ROS generation. Activation caspases determined ascertain mitochondria-mediated apoptosis cells. Results: results revealed that strongly inhibited growth proliferation; which validated authenticated condensation fragmentation indicating initiation apoptosis. We also observed significant generation activation emodin-treated Conclusion: Our suggested strong Keywords:Apoptosis, Cancer, DAPI, Emodin, HeLa, ROSView:PDF (807.5 KB)

Interferon α Induces the Apoptosis of Cervical Cancer HeLa Cells by Activating both the Intrinsic Mitochondrial Pathway and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Induced Pathway
The interferon α (IFN-α) has been often used as a sensitizing agent for the treatment of various malignancies such as hepatocellular carcinoma, malignant melanoma, and renal cell cancer by promoting the apoptosis of thesetumor cell types. However, the effect of IFN-α on cervical cancer remains unknown. In this study, HeLa cells were used as a testing model for the treatment of IFN-α on cervical...

The interferon alpha (IFN-α) has been used for treatment of various malignancies such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), malignant melanoma and renal cell cancer (RCC), and has been shown to promote the apoptosis and inhibit the growth of several tumor cell types. However, the effect of IFN-α on cervical cancer is completely unknown. In this study, HeLa cells were used as a testing model for th...
متن کاملHydatid Cyst Killing Mechanism of Ziziphora tenuior by Inducing Apoptosis via Mitochondrial Intrinsic Pathway
Background and objectives: Ziziphora tenuior is considered as an appropriate protoscolicidal agent yet the mechanism of such effect is not known so far. The aim of this study was to evaluate the apoptotic effect of Z. tenuior extract on protoscolices of hydatid cyst. Methods: Protoscolices were collected aseptically and the Bradford test was e...
متن کاملEffects and Mechanism of Baicalin on Apoptosis of Cervical Cancer HeLa Cells In-vitro
The objective of this study was to observe the apoptosis-inducing effect and mechanism of baicalin on human cervical cancer HeLa cells. The inhibitory effect of baicalin on the growth of HeLa cells was measured by MTT assay, and cell proliferation and migration was analyzed by cell scratch assay. Morphological changes of apoptotic cells were viewed by the light microscope and electron microscop...
